Antonio Almeida is currently head of haematology department at Hospital da Luz and Founding Dean of Católica Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal.  He was awarded his medical degree in 1993 from Cambridge University, UK, completed his Specialist Training in Haematology in the UK in 2002 and was awarded a PhD in 2007 by Imperial College London. He leads a Haematology Epigenetic research group and is the national principal investigator for several clinical trials in CML and MDS. He is President Elect of the European Hematology Association for 2021-2023.
