He obtained a degree medicine and chemistry and completed his medical internship and doctoral thesis at the Free University of Berlin promoted by a scholarship. Dr Kaiser then took up the post of Research Physician at the Department of Haematology/Oncology, University Clinic Benjamin Franklin, Free University of Berlin before joining the University Clinic of the Charité, Humboldt University of Berlin, where he worked  in the field of clinical oncology, pharmacogenetics and pharmacokinetics of anti-cancer drugs, researching drug metabolising enzymes and drug target structures. Subsequent to this, Dr Kaiser joined the University Clinic Göttingen as project leader for various clinical oncology research projects. He received his venia legendi from the Georg-August University of Göttingen after having achieved his board certification. Dr Kaiser has received several internal and external awards for research during his career. He led the development of various oncological compounds from early clinical development until worldwide registration at Boehringer-Ingelheim. His research has been published in a range of leading international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Pharmacogenetics  and The Lancet Oncology.
