He moved to the university of Rennes, in Brittany in 1998 where he succeeded Pr Bernard Launois and took over the direction of the HPB surgery and liver transplantation program. In 2021, the Rennes HPB surgery program was ranked #1 in France, with nearly 200 liver resections and 150 liver transplants per year.
